The Winkler-Hermaden winery is located on the Kapfensteiner Kogel, an extinct volcano, in south-eastern Styria. The winery covers a total of 40 hectares of vineyard area. After numerous well-known white grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer and Pinot Blanc, the most famous red wine variety, the Blauer Zweigelt, is also found here. Not only the wine grows in Kapfenstein. Also the oaks for the small wooden barrels grow on the same soil, in the same climate and on the same Kapfensteiner Kogel.Tasting notes:Ruby garnet with purple reflections. In the nose notes of heart cherries and sour cherries. On the palate aromas of dark nuts, chocolate and eucalyptus. Long lasting with velvety tannins on the finish. Grape varieties: Zweigelt. Ageing: 18 months in barriques. Soil: Brown earth with volcanic material. Acidity: 5.0 g/l. Residual sugar: 1,2 g/l. Closure: glass closure. Storage potential: Until 2028. Drinking temperature: 16-18°C This wine is excellent with pasta dishes and pork.
