The Winkler-Hermaden winery is located on the Kapfensteiner Kogel, an extinct volcano, in south-eastern Styria. The winery covers a total of 40 hectares of vineyards. After numerous well-known white grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer and Pinot Blanc, the most famous red wine variety, Blauer Zweigelt, can also be found here. Not only the wine grows in Kapfenstein. The oaks for the small wooden barrels also grow on the same soils, in the same climate and on the same Kapfensteiner Kogel.Tasting notes:Ruby garnet with violet reflections. On the nose, cherry notes, vanilla and eucalyptus. On the palate of bitter chocolate, sour cherries and velvety tannins. Long lasting and powerful finish. Grape varieties: Zweigelt. Maturation: 24 months in barriques. Soil: Brown earth with volcanic material. Residual sugar: 1.1 g/l. Closure: Glass closure. Drinking temperature: 16-18°C This wine is excellent with pasta dishes and pork.
