The Winkler-Hermaden winery is located on the Kapfensteiner Kogel, an extinct volcano, in south-eastern Styria. The winery covers a total of 40 hectares of vineyards. After numerous well-known white grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer and Pinot Blanc, the most famous red wine variety, Blauer Zweigelt, can also be found here. Not only the wine grows in Kapfenstein. The oaks for the small wooden barrels also grow on the same soils, in the same climate and on the same Kapfensteiner Kogel.Tasting notes:Ruby garnet with violet reflections. On the nose, notes of heart cherries and sour cherries. On the palate flavours of dark nuts, chocolate and eucalyptus. Long lasting with velvety tannins on the finish. Grape varieties: Zweigelt. Maturation: 18 months in barriques. Soil: Brown earth with volcanic material. Acidity: 5,0 g/l. Residual sugar: 1,2 g/l. Closure: Glass closure. Storage potential: Until 2028. Drinking temperature: 16-18°C This wine is excellent with pasta dishes and pork.
